 The Challenge

GE HealthCare has a long-standing reputation of building great leaders, but they were ready to take things to the next level. The organization had shifted many of their traditional style learning programs toward technical skills such as “lean manufacturing,” but not holistic leadership.

When it comes to leadership, GE HealthCare doesn’t believe that there is only one way to lead. They wanted to provide a Leadership Coaching program that would help their leaders discover & define who they uniquely want to be as leaders, & develop next level leadership skills, while still aligning with their corporate leadership behaviors.

With over 45,000 employees spread around the world, it's challenging to build connections between teams, & silos inevitably form. Not only that, but it's challenging to find time to get a single team on the same page with each member of the group moving at full speed to hit quarterly goals.

 The Perk Solution

To level up their Supply Chain, Lean, & Business Team Leaders, GE HealthCare decided to partner with The Perk & offer a next level Custom Leadership Development Program.

Using four of their core services, The Perk created & implemented the Discover & Define Your Leadership Brand Coaching + Training Program. In this program, GE HealthCare Leaders celebrate & scale the powerful elements of their leadership, while also digging deep to gain clarity on the behaviors & mindsets they want to develop to increase their leadership confidence, effectiveness, & impact. Through the program, the leaders are also trained on the skills great leaders need NOW: communication, coaching, & employee wellbeing skills.

What GE HealthCare loves about this program is that it’s very tailored to the individual & they get to determine the areas they want to grow & develop. The individual coaching meets people where they are at, while the team coaching sessions break down silos & help build cross-functional trust, connection, & collaboration. As one HR Executive noted, they are “thrilled to have a program that focuses on & develops our leaders as whole, holistic individuals.”

 The Results

Since implementing this program in 2020, GE HealthCare has expanded it to additional cohorts, as well as additional locations, for other leaders in their organization. At the time of this Case Study, 60% of the leaders who participated in this Leadership Coaching + Training Program had been promoted within 6 months of program completion. They are expanding the Coaching + Training Program to additional departments as management has seen the positive effects this program has had on their leaders as individuals, their teams, & the overall company culture.

“I have absolutely loved this coaching program. It’s been the best mechanism for me to become more self-aware & look at myself & how I am as a leader, & what I can do to improve. Sometimes improvements aren’t only in interactions with others, but in yourself, & that’s been very eye-opening for me.

Through this program, participants became more aware of their leadership gaps & took actionable steps to work towards strengthening those skills.
