The organization is a global chemical company with a team-driven culture & high standards for operational performance. Recognizing that long-term success depends on strong leadership at every level, The organization partnered with The Perk to invest in a customized leadership development experience for its middle & senior leaders.

The Client

The organization’s leadership team identified several interconnected challenges holding back their organization’s potential:

The Challenge

Departmental silos

Silos between departments were limiting collaboration & transparency.

Leader development

Middle & emerging leaders needed structured development & clear expectations.

Limited cross-level connection

Junior & senior leaders had few opportunities to connect, learn from one another, & build mutual trust.

Lack of scalable culture

The organization wanted a scalable approach to building a lasting leadership culture.

The Solution: ACT - Activating Leadership

The Perk designed & delivered a tailored Middle Manager Protocol (MMP) for the organization, branded internally as “ACT” — a name chosen by the customer to reflect the program’s blend of middle & senior leaders & its core philosophy:
Align | Commit | Thrive.

The program was built around three integrated pillars:

Training Sessions
Skill development through interactive in-person sessions were anchored by a kickoff that established leadership mindsets, psychological safety, & accountability frameworks.
Group Coaching
Quarterly 60-minute virtual coaching sessions facilitated by The Perk coaches to reinforce learning & support real-world application.
Peer Pods
Participant-led small group sessions that gave leaders true ownership over their own development, including scheduling meetings & submitting session notes. This creates a culture where these skills come to life outside of The Perk in real world practice.

Program Design

The four modules selected for the ACT program:

Building Unshakable Trust
Accountability That Drives Results
Leading Change with Confidence

From the cohort, the team was broken out into groups of four for their Peer Pods. Each Peer Pod had an emerging leader who was tasked with self- organizing: scheduling their own meetings, running their own sessions, & submitting notes. This design gave junior leaders meaningful ownership — a key outcome the team was hoping to foster from day one.

Influence & Collaboration Across Boundaries

The impact of the ACT program was felt quickly & measurably.

The Results

March 2026 was the organization’s best production month since October 2024:
Largely attributed to the Accountability module & the team’s ability to set clear expectations & hold one another accountable. HUGE!

March & April 2026 were both record-breaking production months for the organization.

Cross-departmental cohesion improved significantly, with leaders reporting greater transparency & trust across functions.

Emerging leaders took genuine ownership of peer pod meetings — scheduling sessions, leading discussions, & submitting their own notes.

In Their Own Words

“The Peer Pods & group coaching are great because we are talking about these things every month.”
— Team Member

The feedback from the organization’s leaders speaks for itself.

“Thank you for opening up & being vulnerable. That’s not an easy thing to do & I really appreciate you.”
— Team Member, on a Peer Pod session speaking to a Peer
“This is everything I hoped for in the program!”
— Program Stakeholder
When asked what their favorite part of the session was, "Collaboration amongst peers with real company situations - talking about ways we can improve our company & culture. Also loved the group dynamics."
— Team Member, after comparing The Perk workshop to an external leadership conference

The ACT program succeeded because it was designed around the organization’s specific goals.

What Made it Work

Three design elements made the biggest difference:

Intentional Cross-Pollination
Pairing junior & senior leaders across departments created the transparency & trust that the organization's leadership team had prioritized from day one.
Participant Ownership
Giving peer pods responsibility for their own scheduling & note-taking wasn't just logistics; it was leadership practice embedded directly into the program structure.
Consistent Cadence
Monthly touchpoints across training, coaching, & peer pods meant conversations about leadership never went stale. Leaders were always reinforcing & applying what they'd learned.
