Hey Leader, here at The Perk, we take industry research & client feedback to heart. That’s why we intentionally cultivate workshops & leadership development programs through a fun, people-centric lens to ensure engagement & learning retention & to set our stakeholders up for success when it comes to return on investment. And this relationship-based approach to leadership development starts from within.

Here’s some of what we do here at The Perk to ‘make it stick’ with our clients:

1. Infuse our company core behaviors & guiding principles into curriculum development.

  • Our goal is to make you & your teams say, “Wow!” The principles below govern what sets The Perk experiences apart from everyday training.

  • We also use a five step process when designing programs to ensure we understand who our clients are & what unique business needs they have. This helps us tailor programs that make an impact. We meet with clients first to discuss their goals & then gather & analyze the data. Afterward, we use that research to curate & customize a program experience that supports the client’s optimal leadership outcomes. When we implement the program, we support our stakeholders by providing weekly dashboards to show progress, & we use assessments to capture a strong baseline of quantitative & qualitative metrics. That helps us measure both progress & success.

2. Use strategic empathy to personalize leadership curriculum & coaching for groups & individuals.

  • We curate our leadership programs to meet individuals & groups right where they are. Individual coaching clients complete an introductory survey in order to understand what they see as their strengths & opportunities for growth, & they work with their coaches to co-create goals & accountability structures to help measure progress along the way. One client shared, “The Perk always really takes the time to understand what I’m trying to accomplish, and then adapts the tools and training/coaching to work with our team very individually.”

  • Even in group programs where leaders learn leadership skills together, we work with participants within the group to set individualized goals & measure progress that is meaningful to them.

3. Include engaging activities & materials for connection & play.

  • We get teams moving & dancing, making silly animal noises, & connecting more authentically with each other as they learn. Now, you may be thinking, “Oh my gosh, my team would NEVER be into that...” but what we’ve found is that those are the teams that get the MOST into it!

  • We bring the music, energy, & confetti (literally!) that invites people out of their ordinary schedules & into a space to experiment, grow & maximize the learning impact.

4. Lead hands-on experiential examples for practice & application.

Before they even realize it, we get teams using the leadership & culture design skills we teach within the workshop itself. By the time they leave, they already have practical experience building trust, setting clear expectations, inviting peer feedback, & more. We create space for personal reflection & idea generation for what they will bring back to their teams, & help them craft commitments on how to take the learning from concept to action.

5. Explain not only what to do but why it’s important & how to immediately incorporate learning into daily leadership.

  • We don’t believe it’s enough to share knowledge; we empower teams with an understanding of why these topics are recommended & effective, & we show them how to incorporate them into daily activity right away.

  • We employ the Understanding by Design framework to curate a mix of activities, auditory & visual resources, & thoughtful homework that addresses the full spectrum of learning styles. This is one of the biggest ways we, “make it human!”

  • This approach to inclusion helps challenge your team to internalize learning & use their own innovation to apply the skills to real-world scenarios.
