Middle manager training built as a journey, not a one-off.

The Middle Manager Protocol™ is more than a training program, it's a transformational journey. Built around 12 practical modules, this program helps managers shift from "checking the box" to leading with confidence, clarity, & impact.

With immersive workshops, group coaching, & ongoing practice, leaders don't just learn skills - they change behaviors. And because leadership today means navigating new realities like AI, each module helps managers understand how to apply human-centered skills in a fast-changing, tech-enabled world.

Whether your managers are newly promoted or have been leading for years, this middle manager training program meets them where they are & gives them a full year of practice, not a single day off-site.

What happens between the workshops is what makes it stick

A single workshop can teach a manager the Accountability Ladder or the 5 Core Behaviors that build trust. What it cannot do is get them to use those tools the following Tuesday, when a direct report misses a deadline & the easier move is to absorb the work themselves.

That is what the group coaching sessions & peer pods are for. Coaching gives managers a facilitated space to bring a real situation & work it through with someone trained to ask the right question instead of handing over the answer. Peer pods give them a small group carrying the same load, meeting on their own cadence, holding each other to what they said they would do. A year of that rhythm is what turns a framework into a habit.

Who the Protocol is built for

  • Newly promoted managers stepping into a first people leadership role

  • Frontline & mid-level managers with 1 to 5 direct reports, promoted for technical skill & never trained for the people part

  • Tenured managers leading for years without formal development, now navigating hybrid teams, AI & faster change

  • Emerging leaders you are preparing for bigger scope

  • Full manager cohorts where you need consistent leadership language across departments

This is not a one-and-done new manager training class, & it is not reserved for first-time managers.

A global chemical manufacturer ran the Protocol internally as ACT: Align | Commit | Thrive. Twelve leaders, four modules.

  • March 2026 was their best production month since October 2024, largely attributed to the Accountability module

  • March & April 2026 were both record-breaking production months

  • Cross-departmental transparency & trust improved significantly

Middle Manager Training FAQs

How long is middle manager training?

Most manager training runs 2 to 8 hours & ends there. The Middle Manager Protocol™ runs as a 12-month journey: a kickoff workshop, 4 quarterly leadership workshops of 2 hours virtual or 4 hours in person, group coaching & peer pod sessions in between, & assessments at the beginning, midpoint & end.

What should middle manager training cover?

Effective middle manager training covers the behaviors managers use every day rather than leadership theory: accountability, clear communication, trust, delegation, coaching, emotional intelligence, leading change, decision-making, time & energy management, influence across boundaries, culture-building, & the identity shift from peer to leader. The Protocol covers all 12, & each organization selects the 4 that match its priorities.

How much does manager training cost per person?

The Middle Manager Protocol™ starts at $2,497 per middle manager, covering the kickoff workshop, 4 quarterly workshops, group coaching, peer pods, session workbooks & assessments at the beginning, midpoint & end. 1:1 coaching is available as an add-on.

What is the difference between manager training and leadership training?

Manager training focuses on the mechanics of running a team: setting expectations, giving feedback, delegating & tracking performance. Leadership training focuses on vision, influence & how you show up. Middle managers need both, because they are the layer that translates strategy into daily execution.

Is this program only for new managers?

No. Newly promoted managers get a lot out of it, particularly the From Peer to Leader module, but the Protocol is built for the whole middle layer. Tenured managers who were never formally developed, frontline managers with a handful of direct reports, & emerging leaders being prepared for bigger scope all run the program together. Mixing tenure levels in one cohort is often where the best conversations happen.

Is the training virtual or in person?

Both. Workshops run 2 hours virtually or 4 hours in person, & organizations choose the format that fits how their teams work. Group coaching sessions are virtual. Peer pods meet on whatever cadence & format the participants set for themselves.
